June GlossyBox
Hi all and welcome to my very first post on Shauna's Fashion Files. I am going to talk through the June GlossyBox. For those of you who are not aware of what GlossyBox is, it is a monthly beauty subscription. Every month you receive five beauty products which can range from makeup to hair care to skincare products. Some will be brands we all know and love and some will be brands you may never heard of! It is a great way of trying new products. At the moment I am using the monthly subscription which works out at about €18.00 a month. In my opinion this is very good as you can spend up to this much on a single beauty product. There are also other types of subscriptions you can avail of from 3 month subscription to 6 and 12 month subscriptions. To find out more you can visit the GlossyBox website,which is linked below;
June's GlossyBox consisted of an eyemask, after sun, sun protection cream spray, lip & cheek tint and a konjac sponge. Below I am going to talk you through three of the products I was most looking forward to using and my thoughts of each.
STARSKIN Eye Catcher: Eye Mask
to try this out. Before using mine I placed it in the fridge for 10 minutes. When placing the masks on your face ensure you remove the two outer layers. The cool feeling off the masks are very relaxing against your skin, you can immediately feel them hydrating your skin. I left mine on for 15 minutes. Afterwards my skin was slightly red and felt tight. My overall opinion of the masks were ok however I feel they would work better for somebody who is older and perhaps has dehydrated skin under the eye as this would plump the skin and re-hydrate it. In saying this, I will definitely use this product again if I feel dehydration under my eyes and will pop them in my suitcase for holidays for use after sun exposure.
impression was the lovely summery packaging, the
size of the tube is perfect to pop in a suitcase for your holidays or even into a handbag for throughout the day. I will most definitely be bringing this with me to Orlando in September. The lotion itself is made from Monoi (this is an oil made from soaking gardenia petals in coconut oil) and Vitamin E. The smell of the lotion is very holiday-ish, think of coconut vibes, this will be lovely to lather your skin in after a shower. After testing this product on my self I can say that it blends into the skin very easily and does not leave a sticky or greasy feeling on your skin which I am a big fan of, I hate that sticky feeling after applying a lotion or moisturizer! My skin felt extremely hydrated after applying this, this will come in well after spending the day in the sun. Overall I am happy with this product and I will definitely be popping it in my bag for holidays.
Of all the products in this
months GlossyBox I was most excited to try this. The konjac sponge comes from Japan and has been used for hundreds of years there. Its made from a potato like plant which grows in Asia. To use this product you rinse it
and give it several
squeezes to remove excess water, I then used a foam Body Shop cleanser and pumped this onto the sponge. Using the sponge I rubbed the cleanser all over my face and rinsed it off with lukewarm water. After using the sponge
my skin felt amazingly smooth! It gently exfoliated my skin without feeling harsh or leaving my skin red. After using it I rinsed out the excess foam and water, you can then leave it to dry, there is a handy string attached to the sponge, and leave it to dry for its next use. After doing some online research on the konjac sponge, I expect to get 4-6 weeks out,which I think is extremely valuable as it retails at €6.99. I will most definitely be adding this to my skincare regime and will continue using it once a day, preferably after I have removed my makeup.
Overall I was happy with this months GlossyBox. I felt it had a range of products that are suited to this time of year. There was a good balance of products from skincare, makeup, haircare and sun protection. I will continue my subscription with GlossyBox and I look forward to July's box.
I hope you enjoyed reading my first post,
